Event Details
Originally from the United States, Jason Sandy is an architect and developer who moved to London in 2007. He discovered mudlarking in 2012 and has contributed to many articles and books on mudlarking, as well as lecturing, appearing on national television, and having an active presence on social media. Jason’s most thrilling find is a Roman hair pin, made of ornately carved bone, and dating back to 50-100 AD, just seven years after the foundation of the Roman settlement in London. It is now on permanent display in the Museum of London. However he has also done some mudlarking on the foreshore right outside the Bulls Head and will tell us all about his finds.

Gareth Williams and the Mystery of the Body In The Bag
In August 2010 Mi6 spy Gareth Williams body was found naked in his Pimlico flat. He was locked inside a North Face sports bag placed into his bath. This real-life espionage intrigue exploded onto our television screens as sensational details were provided about Gareth’s life and death. Police could find no DNA or fingerprints anywhere in the vicinity. The front door was locked, from the outside! Who would want to kill this mild-mannered math genius? This presentation delves beneath the sensational media headlines, into Gareth’s mirky world of espionage.
We trace Gareth’s life from a young boy with enormous mental capacity to the man who may have known too much! We confront the various possibilities as to his demise and who may be responsible for this grisly death.
Paul Barwick spent 34 years in the Police Service in many different roles and responsibilities both in plain clothes and uniform. He spent many years in police intelligence, focused on organised criminal networks and crimes of violence. In 2014 he acquired a national role in counter terrorism. He retired in 2019, and starting presenting talks focused on London’s rich history of espionage incidents and characters.
