We sipped and slurped through six wines and some fizz at our first tasting of 2022. It was a great opportunity to try out wines that we wouldn’t normally buy – from an orange wine from Austria, to a Slovenian Sauv Blanc, Romanian Pinot Noir and Portuguese Alvarinho/Viognier. There were varying opinions of the wines, but our favourites turned out to be Domaine des Tourelles ‘Grand Cuvée Pierre Brun’ from the Bekaa Valley at £22.99 a bottle and a Waimea Estates Gewürztraminer from New Zealand at £15.99 a bottle. The Graham Beck Fizz at £16.99 a bottle also went down well. A few got the thumbs down, but we stick by the old adage, try anything once!
